ComputerCraft 1.481 – MiscPeripherals Fix

It’s been discovered that a small change to the peripheral API in ComputerCraft 1.48 broke the popular MiscPeripherals mod by RichardG. A lot of people use this mod, so I’ve released this quick hotfix to solve the problem. You don’t need to install this update if you or your server don’t use MiscPeripherals (but you should try it out, it’s quite good!)

Update: It seems there is also a conflict between MiscPeripherals and Equivalent Exchange 3. If you have both these mods installed, you need to upgrade MiscPeripherals to the latest version. This is not a bug in ComputerCraft.

ComputerCraft requires Minecraft 1.4.6 or 1.4.7 and an appropriately up to date version Minecraft Forge. Once forge is installed, drop into your /mods/ directory, and launch the game.

Happy hacking!

  1. So does this fix the bug, that pacing a chunkloading turtle will cause an ClassCastException?

    Cheers Eydamos

  2. Dan when you have the latest Computercraft, MiscPeripherals, and ee3 universal pre2a1 you cannot craft a turtle the game will crash every time. I tracked down the bug to something with ee3.common.item.Moditems for the full crash report email me my email is [email protected]

      • See where it says miscperipherals and ee3 at the top of the stacktrace? That’s because it’s a conflict between those two mods. Update miscperipherals

  3. i still crash i don’t know if it is ee3 or miscperipherals. but i hope you can fix it

*snip* Please don’t post entire crashlogs here

  4. Hello, i think something is broke, because i can’t craft any elf.
Can you fix this problem? I am using FeedTheBeast Direwolf20 Modpack.
    Thanks, Saadar.

  6. Hey, quick question.

I have older programs that I would like to add and update inside of ComputerCraft for Turtles. However, I have not found any external folder to place these programs in. Previously there was a lua folder with all of the sub folders and programs that we could edit external to MC.

Do you still have this folder structure. If not, how do I proceed and how do I backup new programs that I write?

    • Heya,
The builtin “rom” programs are now found in a “lua” folder inside the computercraft zip file. If you like, you can extract this folder to a “ComputerCraft” folder inside your mods folder, and edit and add to them there.
Programs you create ingame are created where they always have been: inside “saves/your world name/computer”

  7. If I might make a small suggestion, in regards to the data which turtle.getFuelLevel() returns..
Right now, if you have it set to use fuel, that function returns a number value.. But if you have your turtles set to NOT use fuel, then that function returns “unlimited”.. This is a problem because it is returning a string, when most coders expect a number. This creates program-halting errors which require users edit the program to fix, if they happen to prefer disabling the turtle fuel requirement.

Rather than having coders create some sorta cleverness with their variable checking in order to avoid this bug, wouldn’t it make more sense to have it simply output a number that it normally would never output? (Like -1, or an absurdly high number, or a number the fuel formulas can’t produce mathmatically.) So that we can simply check, if it equals that, to ignore our refueling functions..

Just an idea, since I’ve run into this bug a couple times.

Thanks for a great mod! =D

    • How is “if turtle.getFuelLevel() == -1” any different to “if turtle.getFuelLevel() == “unlimited””? Both require the code to know that a different value is returned when fuel is disabled, and both will have the wrong result if a program ignores it and does “if turtle.getFuelLevel() > 0”, or similar.

  8. Could You Plz Make An Alternate DL? Because, My Computer Is Parental Contolled Up And I Have To Go To My Mom’s Comp In Order To DL The Latest Versions (Sites I Can Use : Github and Dropbox Or use a direct download from this site)

    • Not sure why Mediafire blocked computercraft, probably they thought computercraft might harm other’s computers, maybe that’s why.
But it doesn’t bother me, I got the emulator.
      It will soon be fixed.

  9. okay heres my problem, first of all when ever I download a mod for minecraft (any mod) I can never work out how to install it (I am using a mac) but my biggest problem right now is I can’t even download the computer craft mod. when I try it says “This webpage is not available”

  10. Dan, just a quick question. Since the new minecraft update is coming out soon-ish (the snapshots are out), are you planning on adding any new features or items to computercraft? like maybe a wireless printer or a camera or somthing. anyway, great job! 🙂

  11. Hey, well, I have been digging around and for the life of me can not find the location of the computercraft custom programs. It is definitely not saved in the said directory as before. I am using the FTB pack. I also can’t upload any custom programs to the server for the same reason, I don’t know where they are stored. The only file I keep finding is the lastid.txt in the said directory. No programs or folders unless I explicitly extract the computercraft install zip. Any advice?

    • Make a folder called 0 or whatever it says in the lastid.txt, and put in that folder all the programs for the last computer/turtle that you accessed ingame. Hope this helps.

  12. When you say “the latest version of Forge”, wouldn’t it make more sense to give a specific version? Or are you guaranteeing that CC will work with whatever future version happens to be “the latest” at any given point?
