Ahh! Real Turtles!

Adopt me!

No, your eyes are not deceiving you: Photographed above are four Turtles and a Computer, set free from their natural habitat, and wreaking havoc in the real world! Unchecked, these critters will quickly start seeking coal and crafting copies of themselves, each one of them on a mission to excavate the Earth until it’s nothing but a flat expanse of bedrock. To save our planet from this fate, please: Adopt a Turtle today. By giving a turtle a safe home, you’ll not only be making a friend for life: You’ll be doing the Earth a favour.

I just need to mock one up with a tiny crate paper suit and Cuthbert the turtle butler will serve in real life as well as on my server. Looking awesome Dan :)

I think these are amazing. However, there’s no way I’m paying 6.50 dollars to Shapeways for them to ship a 1x1x1 in cube to my house. I desperately want the wireless mining turtle, but until they offer cheaper shipping options I can’t justify buying one. Sorry.

    • Yeah, that seems to put a lot of people off. It’s because they come in a big box with lots of bubblewrap. Remember though that shipping is flat rate, so you can order one of each turtle, and still only pay $6.50

If there is any way for you to negotiate with them for alternate shipping options that would be great. I just can’t imagine it costs them $6.50 to ship one of these bad boys. I’ll be keeping an eye on this, I definitely want one, but again, I can’t justify spending $6.50 on shipping a 1x1x1 item.

      • Is shipping really flat rate at $6.50 no matter how many come in the box?

        Of course I’m not thinking of placing an order resulting in a 50 lb package ;}
But I was thinking of ordering two batches of twenty, which I’m seriously considering making a single order now.

        • I’ve paid the same for shipping when i’ve ordered 4 or 5 as i have for 1 or 2, so i presume the price is per box. I’m not sure 40 would fit in one box though! Try mailing shapeways and asking, or just setup the order and see what it comes too.

How come you’re ordering so many? Do you run a nerdy gift shop or something :p

          • Sorry for the exceptionally late reply.

I was actually planning to attach various printed silly hats, and make a chess set out of them :D
(Plus a couple ‘spares’ just in case)

These look amazing and am really wanting to buy one. I have a cool idea though. I want to hook this up with my lego mindstorm, but of course its very small and i’m assuming not hallow. It would be cool to have one that is bigger, like the size of a toaster, hallow, and has no bottom so you could put wheels, electronics, or whatever. I want a real turtle that moves and stuff! Could you please help me make this a reality dan200? Great mod by the way. Just gonna say now that Computercraft is my favourite mod.

    • If you want something the size of a toaster, you’re far better off making it yourself out of cardboard or wood or something. 3D printing something that large would be extremely prohibitively expensive!

They look nice but they can’t do anything! Is it possible to have a rednet on button? Or so you can use a turtle as a piggy bank?

could you pls put them onto e-bay or amazon cause i think much more people have accounts there and also not everybody lives in the states and for example to my country it costs about 8 euros (turtle costs about 10 € ) and on e.g. amazon it would cost 3 € to send
and furthermore i dont think that everybody trusts the site where you can buy it at the moment

  13. i would love it if they were actually working computers, monitors and turtles
