Instead of an arrow to the knee, perhaps one to a monitor/monitor grid that causes the touch even to fire ;) Would be cool for shooting galleries etc etc etc.

Sure, why not?

Though the incredibly old and overused "arrow to the knee" joke wasn't needed.

I don't like this idea. Would be annoying to use and implement.

a bow is annoying to use? *confused*

It wouldn't be annoying to use, annoying to implement perhaps.

I did actually read "Arrow to the knee causes..." in the topic title. My bad.

Implementation would mean figuring where the arrow has landed, and firing events based on that arrow.
I know, personally, I can't hit the side of a barn with an arrow - let alone another barn. Not sure about anyone else, but my skills are programming.

This would be really bad if a skeleton fires an arrow at your screen and causes it to shutdown or blow something up etc.

Generally you want to avoid programming your computer to blow things up on a monitor touch anyway.

That said, I don't really see the point of this. There are already ways to make arrows activate redstone, and you could use such methods to create a shooting gallery or some other kind of archery activated circuit.

maybe you do, all my computers with touch screens are wired to TNT and have a self-destruct button.
ok, not really.

I actually like this idea! But Cloudy is right that it would be difficult to implement for what is effectively an easter egg

I see two reasons for this suggestion: easter egg and firing range. May be also a game "you'll never catch me" ;)
All of this is quite subtle reasons to spent coding efforts.

you could use wooden buttons for a firing range. They respond to arrows, and computer can handle the rednet signal. Just can't draw fancy graphics on the target.

Why not punch to the screen?
Or even, gasp, a special touch glove or stylus to trigger touch events?
Nah. That would handicap players to one touch at a time.

You can already right click on advanced monitors.
