One night, he had a dream that the plane his boss was going to board was going to crash. When his boss came back to the office, the guard told him about his dream. Since he was such a great worker, the boss listened and stayed. The next day, news went around that the bosses plane did crash! The boss called the guard to his office, gave him a $1,000,000 cheque for saving his life and then fired him. Why did the guard get fired?

he was sleeping at night, he's on night shift... no sleeping at work

KaoS, what would happen if there is only one blue-eyed person on the island along with the 100 brown-eyed?
if you figure that out, what would happen if there are two blue-eyed persons?
What would happen if there are three?

I dunno man... I fail to see how shouting to 200 people "I see blue eyes" will allow any of them to figure out what color eyes they have...

do the islanders know that there are 100 each? if so they can all figure out their eye color at any time by simple maths

No they do not know how many blue-eyed or brown-eyed people there are..
But imagine this, if there is one blue-eyed person and 100 brown-eyed persons on the island, and the guru says that there is at least someone with blue eyes, the following will happen:

The blue eyed person will look around, see nobody with blue eyes, and therefore concludes that he has blue eyes and leaves that night.
From the perspective of a brown eyed person: he will see one blue eyed person, but it is still possible that he has blue eyes too. If he has blue eyes the (only) blue-eyed person can not conclude he has blue eyes on the first day, and will not disappear. He disapeared though and therefore he must have brown eyes, all the brown-eyed persons leave the second night.
Now how would this work if there are 2 blue-eyed persons?

To get back to their home planet, they have to find out who has red feet and who has green feet. They have one problem though: they are all wearing socks, making it impossible to see whose feet are which color. To find out, they need your help. How can you find out? You may only ask questions.

Hint: simply asking "do you have red feet?" won't work, as aliens with red feet will answer "no".

Uhmm.. (My theory) The first day they would look at eachother and see that the other person has blue eyes and then at the night noone would disappear. But then the next day they would notice that the other blue eyed person did'nt disappear and they would realize that they have blue eyes and both would disappear the second night.
Otherwise I have no clue..

The green ones will say: "Yes, there are."
The red ones will say: "Nope."

Ah so the 3rd person would think this way and if after 2 days noone has disappeared that means there must be 3 people and each blue eye person concludes that they must be blue eyed since they can only see 2 other blue eye people, so they disappear on the third day.

Which means if the pattern continues, that means everybody on the island disappears on the 100th day?
