I need help with programming a computer!

I am a beginner in computer programming and wandered if anyone could talk me through setting up a program or directory or whatever that allows me to remotely monitor my energy storage.

Please comment and maybe post the code if you could.

Wgat kind of energy? From what mod? Redpower, buildcraft, industrialcraft?
