I think it'd be cool if I could send a turtle with a lasso to let my animals out and graze during the day, then pen them in at night. Maybe even just make a new type of turtle, crafted with a turtle and a lasso.

Cleaned up crappy posts. Sounds like a nice idea, but not sure of the feasibility of it.

YOu're talking about the new item from the 1.6 snapshots, right?

Yes, yes I am. I have roughly played with it, and I love everything about it. Though, I feel turtles should be able to interact with the new item to a degree - hence this thread.

Definitely sounds like it would be hard to pull off, though it would be pretty cool. It also seems to fit the feel of the main mod since it is an item added by Vanilla Minecraft and turtles would be more than capable of using it (reality check).

Maybe you could craft a turtle with a lead and get a "Lead Turtle" or "Lasso Turtle," and then turtle.attack() leashes the nearest animal within 2-3 blocks in front of it, or above it or below it if you use turtle.attackDown() or turtle.attackUp(). I could see some interesting possibilities with this!

Sounds neat, but it would be very difficult to make practical without entity detection.

Well, what I had planned was that all the animals would be trapped in the system, then the turtle comes along, goes to where it knows the animal is, leashes one, and drags it off to be bred, or sheared, or something like that.

In theory at least, melee turtles would be very difficult to make practical without entity detection, but people have still done some very cool things with them.
