What price range do you have? What applications do you use? What operating system do you prefer? Have any preferences for brands?

We need a lot of info to suggest you one.

Could you say how much it should cost max? If it should be about 800€(I don't know how much it is in $) I would suggest the Lenovo IdeaPad y580, but it only has a 15.6" screen.

A 17 inch laptop would be more expensive. Especially if you want a good GPU and CPU. And if it's that big, it's kind of pointless buying a laptop if your using it for portability IMO.

Well,ya.I just mesured with a ruler the size of it on my 20" monitor and it was pretty big.So ill with 15 inches. And my old laptop(peice of junk, powerpc,LAGGGGS)is a 11".So ill change that.

Lenovo seem pretty good for multipurpose laptops (by that I mean not gaming-specific) right now, so any of they mid-high range laptops would be good... I have a cheapish Lenovo G570 which is OK, it can run most games on at least low settings and has reasonably specs, the graphics card is where it falls down, if you have more money I would suggest a more expensive model.

my G570 was something like £500 down from £600, so you'll be able to afford a better one with your current price range :P
and lenovo's seem perfectly reliable, I've only had this laptop 1 and a half years so I can't say how good it is long-term but so far it's held up fine!

Lenovo is definitely one of the best laptop brands I know(the only better ones that I know are Apple and Razer, but they are also expensive).

I know this is a bit nit-picky, but € to £*
I was pricing mine in pounds, so they'll be more euro's (than pounds), not less euro's (than dollars)
