I'm implementing a localisation (multiple languages) featured in to the ComputerCraft AppStore website and app (not user submitted apps) and I'd like to know what languages most people use as their first language. If you think that there would be enough people who speak your language that would use the app store let me know. Also, if you are interested in translating PM me (please don't post here).

At the moment these are the languages I'll be translating (bold indicates translator wanted):

• English (obviously)
  
• German (there seems to be a lot of people who speak german here)
  
• Latvian (Vilsol (I'm working with him) is from Latvia so why not )
  
• Spanish
  
• Dutch

I'm also thinking about french, I haven't seen many users around these forums but maybe they like to use french instead of english (hopefully that wasn't racist).

Any feedback would be appreciated.

(Moderators, the reason this isn't part of the App Store topic is because other people may find it useful and it may not get enough attention there.)

How is this going to work for developers who submit apps? Do we have to localise our own descriptions/app name/app/etc (I assume so)? This doesn't seem to be of great use since the vast majority of the content in the app store is submitted, meaning that unless you want to get an army of translators to translate everything that goes into the app store, it's a bit pointless because most of the stuff seen by people in different languages will just be in English (apart from headings).

No no, I mustn't have made this clear enough, I'll change the main description.

This is only for the website and (possibly) the app store app. Localisation is something that developers will have to do themselves.

I speak Swedish as my native language. English as second as I'm learning that in school since 3rd grade.

I speak Danish. But why translate it to all of those languages? Almost everyone speaks English or German.

Just because. Dont you like it more to read it in your own native language? (However, the terms should be in english )

I speak Dutch, English and German. I have a native level in Dutch and English. Dutch is my first language so I could help translating to Dutch.

These are the languages I use on the internet, listed from most common to least common.
English
Dutch
German
French (je parle le francais un petite peu..)
Swedish (min swenska lite bra :S)

But wouldn't it look odd if the description is in English while the rest of the site is in, for example, Dutch?

I know from experience that is annoying if the Finder is in English, while Midnight commander uses Dutch as default language.

I speak English, but living here in Canada (even in Vancouver, BC) you're bound to pick up a little French.
