You might have hear of Cicada 3301. They are a secret internet organization who made really hard puzzles to recruit people.
I have made one kind of like this. It is based on their puzzles, except a little simpler, and fun for the whole family

I get that the square root of onion is shallot, but how was I supposed to get to shls?

I did well, by looking at the source code. This doesn't test intelligence, it just has a bunch a references only you understand.
