I note that on some posts, especially in posted programs, there are YouTube Links which display as the beginning of a YouTube Video. Yet, I do not see any bbcode that allows me to create such a link. Currently, I can create a url to a link. But how do I add YouTube videos to my posts, especially for purposes of demonstrating program usage?

by going to any of these posts that you've seen YouTube videos and clicking 'quote' you'll see the bbcode

[media]YouTube link[/media]

I've often found, however, that when I paste a YouTube link the video is automatically added. As long as you don't use the 'youtu.be' version it should work by pasting and clicking post.

In fact, lets test it out...

Sorry All -- thought this was solved. I have done exactly what has been explained here. I never get the video preview window to come up. Is it a permissions issue?

Here is the post I am working on -- It is for my Portal Dialing Computer & Turtles and I wanted to embed the video which inspired it.

Edit: I did finally get this to work. I found that unless I included the watch? option in the url for the [media] tag, it would not work. Probably elementary for some, was not for me.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=36eRfsDaUdo --worked.
http://www.youtube.com/v=36eRfsDaUdo -- did not work.

Good to see you got it working, the watch? part will be due to the way IP. Board detects the videos.

Ummm... without the watch? its not even a valid url, the index page for YouTube isn't designed for GET requests. the only way you can not use watch? is with youtu.be links (which also require removal of v=), which oeed has already stated doesn't work with the media tags.
