Hello,
I just wanted to know, if anyone here has some good Recommendations for free webhosters. I had funpic before, but it had a 50 MB file size limit (that was because of a bug, normally the file size limit should be 5MB), and it was really slow. Then I tried 000webhost, and the download stopped at 32MB, files that were fine in ftp got cleared in http, and now, I can't even reach the server anymore...

This has been discussed quite often before, but.

Personally, I'd say go with 000webhost. I know tons of people say it sucks, but I don't know a better one. You've got tons of space (about 10GB I think, might be 100) lots of bandwidth. The supports not too bad either. Now, obviously it has it's problems. You're suck with PHP 5.2 is the main one for me, but it's the price you've gota pay. I use it for everything I host.

oeed: I see you switched olivercooper.me from GoDaddy to 000webhost .

EDIT: If you use just HTML or Jekyll (I think that's the restriction) you can use GitHub pages.

OpenShift. Free to 3 gears and can host any server that runs on linux and has 5m/sec bandwidth for each gear. 1gb total limit though.

I use GoDaddy as a registrar and 000webhost as a host.

I host it myself and use GoDaddy as a registrar because it was free/$2

It seems 000webhost is copying files from the ftp directory to the server. Yesterday it stopped downloading at 32MB, and now it's 52MB. I don't know if this only happens with subdomains, because if you create one, you can access them from the same directory as you use for the main domain. That means, the directory were I put in things is public_html, and the subdomain content directory is public_html/subdomain_name, and I'm pretty sure Apache doesn't do this by default...
This is explaining the "cleared file" problem too, I think.

I'll try uploading it to the main content directory, and see if it works then.

The bandwith limit of OpenShift doesn't fit with me, like 10 people will download it, and like 20 downloads I need for testing.

If the thing with webhost000 doesn't work, I'll try Github pages.

Oh. Did GoDaddy have some "Register a domain and get free hosting for x amount of time" deal? For a while I noticed the website was also hosted with GoDaddy.

I use x10hosting, they're free, and don't seem to limit the space/bandwidth you use (I also use a free .tk domain)

000webhost has a 2 minute connection limit, and publishing big files to github branches doesn't work...

ardera: 500MB is more that enough for your homepage, assuming that you can just use additional JavaScript (or other) files to create the page.

1gb total bandwidth or storage?
