Idk when it happened but Bukkit (most awesome MC Server software IMO) will be taken down because of the new EULA...
Anyone got information about that?

I would like to start a discussion about that and throw in an idea i had.

Spoiler

So, let's discuss

#EDIT: I actually found out that Bukkit is discontinued, but Mojang bought it, and they will release it from now on... i really hate mojang.... they just changed their stupid EULA to get even MORE freakn' money out of their game IMO! I think I'll quit MC at this point. I'll check for future releases, and still play CC, but, i wont support such an arrogant company anymore.

I'm never updating to 1.7 or 1.8 because of this.

Also, can anyone guess what dirty little Mojang is going to come hit next?

You do realize that Bukkit and Mojang have been collaborating for a VERY long time and many Bukkit team members were hired onto the Mojang team? Bukkit wanted this to happen, and Mojang just changed their EULA to allow more flexibility in them using Bukkit and to keep it open source. Also everyone saw this coming from a mile away.

I know that they work together, but why are the DL's replaced with some DMCA thingy...

UPDATE:
Found an article reporting that Notch is going to close Mojang, if they don't get enough money.

This sh*t (sorry for that word Admins) is getting weirder every hour... unfortunately we aren't able to "fight" against Mojang...

Well, yeah, you have a point, but Notch said that he would close Mojang but only after ten years from now, if they aren't profitable. So you slightly exaggerated.

Bukkit is unrelated to the EULA stuff. The EULA hasn't changed, they just talked about what it meant and that they were considering starting to enforce it. Please don't spread misinformation.

I really wish people would do their research before opening their mouths.

Bukkit development has stopped, because the devs have seen that there could not be anything to be done without Mojang offering full license support for their work. They decided that instead of waiting to get sued by Mojang, they were going to stop developing Bukkit indefinitely.

More recently, CraftBukkit has been taken down due to a DMCA copyright claim from Wesley Wolfe, who owns the rights to Bukkit. Since CraftBukkit has Bukkit within it(which is a part of Minecraft server software), they've requested that CraftBukkit be removed from the website.

In regards to all the EULA shenanigans going on over the last few months, there's a lot of info to read out there. Go through just about any part of it, and you'll find someone posting a contradiction right afterwards.

The one thing I know for sure is that there's a lot of childish behaviour going on, and a fair bit of it is coming from people I feel should know better. No, I'm not just talking about all the "drama" that pops up around each new event - I'm talking about the instigators. Even if they've got justifiable goals in mind, seems to me their methods have all the subtly and tact of a blunt-force instrument to the face.

It's getting to the point where I feel like Mojang should just respond by putting out a press release which displays thusly:

Posted Image

... then get on with their job - which is provide fun for their player base.

But that's not the world we live in. Mojang have to tidy up their legal paperwork because that's what the system requires them to do. Then they have to tidy up after the babies throwing their toys out of the pram, because, well, that's what's required when you run a daycare center.

And Mojang have got one heck of a daycare center going.
