I installed the bata version of the nod for mc 1.7.10 and when I put a pc down and right click on it. I see a screen with lots of dots. It gets hard to see what I'm typing when I have to try and see around on the screen when all I have on there is dots. I can send you a screen shot if that what you wanted, Let me know.

This is usually an issue with custom fonts. Try starting the game with the default resource pack and then swapping out to your custom resources.
