It seems that since the move to a new host, new account registration for the wiki has been disabled somehow. We've gotten reports on the IRC channel that people have been trying to create accounts, but no option exists to do so.

You went to wiki about wiki. Outside of Computercraft wiki.

On Computercraft wiki link to create account is gone. Attempting to bypass that by using direct link www.computercraft.info/wiki/index.php?title=Special:CreateAccount gives permission error. You need to be administrator to register :D

Looking in to this further, it appears that it may have been an intentional decision, since documentation for MediaWiki suggests that one must manually edit the configuration files. Since new accounts had to post requesting permissions anyway, this just means that accounts must be manually created for the new users as well. Please direct them to post in the sticky topic here and I'll take a swing through it this weekend to get everyone set up. Bear in mind that temporary passwords will need to be created for them, so any users wishing to help edit the wiki will need to be in the Members group, not the New Members group, in order to receive PMs.

Is this the correct place to post account requests? (Just to double check)

I think it is better like that. Previously, there were about 1 to 2 people registering each day. Maybe Dan noticed it and disabled registration, they wouldn't be able to do anything anyways.

Please, Computercraft team needs to link the request-permission thread on the login page. I didn't realized for days that I needed to go to the forum. It's not an obvious path...

Agreed - I looked for a registration link for several minutes before deciding to ask about it on the forums. I'm new to computercraft but am a professional developer (and UX specialist), and just wanted to ask some questions in the discussion of a couple of pages. I think I'm somewhat lucky to have found this thread, honestly - it's a very non-obvious solution.
