Why is ComputerCraft (and especially turtles) so unpopular amongst large Tekkit server admins

Does anyone have any insight as to what might be causing this? It MIGHT be possible to either (1) formalize a bug report and get it fixed, or even just (2) come up with a bios mod that prevents the problems from happening, but only if we know what the problems are.

As for turtles causing memory issues - that's bullshit. There's nothing about turtles which could cause memory issues.

(2) From my reasearch, I sounds like the turtles don't play well with many (all?) permissions systems. Is there some way they could track who placed/crafted them, and then follow those permissions?
I know bukkit is not officially supported, but I still hope this can be figured out.

For the turtle to even place, it will need to be in a loaded chunk - and the position of that player is not even set.

That would be down to the bukkit porters. While its possible that the persons name who placed the turtle could be stored, it probably isn't as simple as setting the turtle to have the same name. Many other mods work exactly the same way in creating a fake player, including things like buildcraft and redpower, so I don't think this would be an issue any more than those mods.
If anyone does give a reason why they don't have CC enabled, please let me know - we can work on these issues but only with server owner support.

This guy needs to get his head out of his ass.
The points hold, it IS a very risky mod, but this guy does know how to talk about how amazing he isn't.
I can really only think of these problems.
- It's possible to crapflood the harddrive, provided you don't have a quota.
- The server can livelock while tasks aren't yielding, resulting in the 10-sec-or-so watchdog timer to kick in and kill the task.
- A forkbomb probably won't kill the CPU but it will probably eat up all the remaining RAM available to the server.

Turtles are slightly overpowered, considering you can just download a script to do mining off these forums.
To be honest I think the hard drive flooding and such issues are a big turn off for most admins. It may have been fixed but you used to be able to create files that couldn't be deleted (under Windows Explorer).

Yet if you google there's ways round that.
Regardless, I'm going to ensure that people will no longer be able to create undeletable files or spam the hard drives with large files in the next version.
