Uhm. Well, you really don't make graphics at all. Icons, save for a name or a letter denoting the program/folder, is out of the question.
On the other hand, take a look at the terminal api. That should give you some ideas. Also, look at your keyboard. The letters and symbols can make shapes, if you think about them for a bit.

yeah, i was thinking of letters and symbols based icons, like here http://www.computerc...i-file-browser/
