Or at least a makeshift installer

Here is why:

Yes, I've tried, here are the logs:
logs

Oh, and it definitely does not work here:

This problem occurred before I rebooted my PC despite it saying "Please do not turn off your PC", as well as after

I also tried the offline version and the version that I used to use

I can't use CC without it

The java installer. So that I can open MC. So that I can open CC.

Well, pic 2 is java installer, pic 1 is MC. But I can't get the installer to work

I'm gonna try this on a VM, I'll get back to you

My vm is so incredibly slow...
It is the laggiest VM ever...

New problem: transferring the file to the host OS. Drive is ridiculously slow, Github says the file is too big

EDIT: got it on my computer, unzip and test it tommorow, don't need the file upload

That makes no sense, why would Windows prompt you to open a standalone application (the java installer) with java or notepad?

This sounds like the XY Problem. First of all, why is your Minecraft installation a jar file? As far as I know, on Windows the launcher is shipped as a regular old Windows executable. Why can't you open it? What happens when you select "Keep using javaw.exe"? That should be fine, no? As long as you have a normal Minecraft installation, reinstalling Java won't do a thing, because Minecraft comes with its own JRE.

That screen disappears for a second and then appears again.

I got a zip with java, now I just need to extract it to my computers PROGRAM_FILES dir when I get a chance
https://www.dropbox....2/Java.zip?dl=0

Because Java was completely deleted from my system, and the installer does not launch (Does nothing except create logs in normal mode, shows error in safe mode)

Tried that, did you not see this screenshot and logs I posted?

The logs are from when I tried in normal mode, didn't get as far in safe mode.
That surprises me, because the web said to try to install it in safe mode

The first screenshot is me trying to run MC, the second is the java installer

As I said, Java should not affect MC because MC comes with its own Java installation. The real problem here is your Minecraft installation. Are you using a special launcher or anything? Because it shouldn't try to open it with anything, the default Mojang launcher is a normal executable.

If you really need Java anyway, make sure you get it from https://java.com/ or from http://www.oracle.co...oads/index.html, and nowhere else. The installer you have there looks very fishy.

Its the MCEDU launcher, which can launch normal minecraft, in addition to it's own version, which is why it needs java

The installer was from Oracle's Java website, I just renamed it ja.exe so that I could run it from the CMD with minimal typing

I read that Java's jdk includes the jre. I'll try installing that, and if it does not work, I'll unzip my zip file and that should definitely work

If you've managed to get your computer to the point where the Java installer won't even run in safe mode, you'd be better off reinstalling the OS. Using the MCEdu launcher probably isn't helping either.

Everything else works... It's just the Java installer

Because if I reset my computer I have to redownload all of my applications and files, including my VMs, and my VMs are a pain to download
I was going to try the refresh option, but it seems to simply be a watered-down version of resetting the computer, and it says I will have to redownload windows 8.1

Backup your data and VMs to a different disk first, and use something like ninite to reinstall all your programs at once.

If you're still trying to pull this kind of stuff you should just buy MC. If you aren't you can try completely removing Java from your system using the control panel and then reinstall it.

For the installer try downloading one of the offline versions here.

I already tried the offline versions.

Also, I did completely remove Java
EDIT: Ok, I made it so that I can run MCEdu, but java is still not configured correctly
