edit: I could use a light sensor to tell the computer that the solars are on and off then set a redstone current to put on a red light

The wires need to be acutually on the machines. Shift-right click the wires on them and it should work.

Nope, they don't. The wires control the machines just fine where they are, it's not my wiring's fault. Plus, if I DID put the wiring onto the machines, all the bare wire would link to each other and screw up the wiring totally.
