Suggestion:

Allow turtles to be able to interact with the mag card reader/writer. Maybe a new method but just for turtles like reader.scanCard()?

Just curious, does the nbt commands even function for the adventure map block for 1.47. I have tried the example program and many other ways of using it and I continue getting the old attempt to call a nil value. I have tried with and without the api provided not having any luck. I have used other fuctions with no problems just seems to be this one set of functions.

super-trivial feature request for whenever you next update, immibis: Add the peripheral attachment name to the event arguments on all the peripherals? Currently it's impossible for a central computer to handle an array of scanners around a base that do different things with the new lan cables, as there is no way for the computer to know which device an event came from.

Perhaps never, just use a file.

55.0.3:
  • Added peripheral side/name to mag_write_done and mag_swipe events.
  • Added old data to mag_write_done event.
  • Added distance to rfid_detected event.
  • RFID readers can scan with a higher-than-default radius, up to 16 blocks; however they will not return any data for cards farther than 5 blocks.
They will still queue a rfid_detected event allowing you to see the existence of the card.
  • Halved the default time it takes to scan for RFID cards, and made it configurable.

55.0.4:
  • Fixed crash when right-clicking a mag-card peripheral.

but thats to easy one of the things i like about programming is working around limitations

I think this is a very good suggestion. Maybe someone had ought to spend a moment to consider at. JUST CONSIDER IT >:/
Thank you for your time in advance.

I have an issue, when i try to read the Magnetic card I don't get a true condition like in this simple program:
local event, arg, arg2 = os.pullEvent("mag_swipe")
if arg == haveaccess then
  print("you have access")
else
  print("You have no access")
end
the problem is, when I use the "Haveaccess" card, It returns, "You have no access", and when i tried with a card with data "Name", it returned "You have access", So if i can have some help there it would be very useful

I can't even see the whole code on my phone (Opera Mini's fault, not yours) but it looks like you forgot a pair of quote marks.

Not sure wheather to post this here or in general/ask since it's mostly code, but...

I'm building a SMP-adventure-map with multiple "dungeons" and am thinking a good way to keep track of these (and the locations they open) is using the mag-cards/RFID cards. My plan is to fill the data-block of the card with 0s and when a specific dungeon is completed and new area unlocked change it's corresponding 0 to a 1.

i.e.:
000000000000000

Dungeon 3 is unlocked:
001000000000000

Dungon 3 and 5 are unlocked:
001010000000000

How could I easily setup the reader/writers to change ONLY the bit that's related wo their dungeon (so that all other progress is not erased)? My only thought is to use complex strings of IF statements (i.e. "if data = 000000000000000 or 000000000000001 or 000000000000010 or 000000000000011 or 000000000000010.... (etc) then data == data + 100000000000000" which would take a LOT of time to code into all 16 (or however many) locations...

Post that in Ask a Pro.
Remember you'll need the player to swipe their card twice - once to read the old value, once to write the new value.

K, cross posted to ask.

Yeah, I figure I can use a prompt "Please swipe your keycard to verify your progress" (even if it's just reading the value) then "please swipe your card a second time to save your progress" or such

Thanks! :)
