I'm saying no to your question. We don't have to write our own interpreter - there are others.
could you give me an input on the actual suggestion? saying "No." with out a quote or anything just makes it look like your denying the suggestion entirly

If you really want a "no" to the entire suggestion, getting picky with Cloudy is one way to go about it.

The main reason I think it won't be added, is because it does not fit with the spirit of the mod. There are only so many things that can be added without making the mod completely different than the current concept. Adding colors was a huge change to the mod, and I it had been turned down so many times before. Adding fonts or text styles does not, and will not fit with this mod AT ALL.
I don't profess to have any meaningful input on the mod, but I believe that Cloudy and Dan would say pretty much the same.

Colors have already made a lot of applications more difficult. Originally, all you needed was an array of bytes to store store to save the state of the screen. With the addition of color, you now need to store that metadata, either as separate tags or just a per character "color array".

would that be the same with standard computers though as they have no color settings

"belive that cloudy and dan WOULD say pretty much the same" honestly it would help if they gave reasons to denying suggestions. I mean, just saying "No." does not give much of an input and new users to the CC mod and forums would not know exactly what would be the concept of the mod and i dont think it would make them feel very welcome when they just see "No." at the bottom of there topic and there topic locked. just saying, could be a little more friendly..

Generally, Cloudy or Dan(usually Cloudy) are not on the forums that often, and get here long after several people have put their two cents in. I don't think they want to spend their time away from coding or doing their full time jobs just to give everyone an explanation that has probably already been given by several members of the forums. I bet you anything that the main reason that this would not be added is because of one of the reasons stated well before Cloudy said "No". I do know that he reads the comments and the argument for/against before making a decision. He's not so closed minded that he would just ignore a valid argument for/against.

For starters - re-read this thread. You'll see Cloudy is saying "No." to your comment about having to write a new Lua interpreter - which is downright insane, to be blunt. There are plenty of Lua interpreters for Java - like LuaJ and Kahlua, to name a few. And as far as "hindering feedback" goes - there's an entire board for it and I'm pretty sure there is a deep well of ideas that Dan and Cloudy have - and most of us have them too.

I'd support font styling (italics, bold, underline), but an entirely different font usually wouldn't fit CC in most circumstances.

i made that suggestion a while ago and cloudy just replied "No." then locked the topic. didnt even tell me why he denied it but oh well
Uh, yes, you made that suggestion - and Cloudy never replied with "No." or locked the topic in fact, it's still open. Yes, I found it, after rummaging through the Suggestions board. And unless Cloudy did actually reply and locked the topic, and then recently deleted his reply and unlocked it (which we'd still be able to see "Post Deleted"), I'm not sure how that above statement is remotely factual.

I've closed this to prevent further debate about the administrative decisions to say yes or no to ideas or the further, blatant "villainization" of Cloudy - it's dan200's mod; if he doesn't want something, he doesn't want something, that's it. I'm fairly certain there is some serious discussion regarding serious ideas (for example, those not on the "don't suggest" and seem somewhat reasonable).
