...Posts like this are ridiculous. Minecraft has been updated no more than 12-16 hours ago. Have some damn patience and wait, or try porting it over yourself. I'm going to leave now before I get myself banned by the things I could say.

Just give it time, Computercraft has three dependencies ModLoader, ModLoaderMP, and Forge, these need to be updated first.

You can still experiment with things in 1.2.3 and save all your CC files, to carry over to 1.2.4 when its ready.

Another good idea is to cycle your list of mods every so often to see which ones updated, just don't update Minecraft until most of your list is ready, or your mods will break. For example I just made a new version of my mod list so it now is in a table format and the mod names have color codes on them to make it easy to see which ones have been updated.

There is a way to create Minecraft on for example the desktop. I mean whole .minecraft Folder with everything of minecraft inside and you can even put it on an usb stick. You can use such a portable minecraft version to test the newest version while you use your normal minecraft to play with mods

Just do that for your own portable minecraft
Put a Minecraft.exe into the folder you want to have the portable Minecraft
Use Notepad and type in:
@echo off
SET APPDATA=%CD%
start Minecraft.exe
save this file in the same folder as your Minecraft.exe and save it with the file extension *.bat.
Then, just run the bat and your portable minecraft works

I use MC Patcher to install several of my mods, and the rest just go in the Minecraft mods folder. :o/>

Now if Mojang could slow down on updates and let the modders catch up, its kind of difficult to construct a massive building with a bunch of mod based items in it and have to stop every two weeks to install mods and reset config files again. :o/>

Would you rather have a game that is unstable due to bugs, or an update to fix the bugs? Updating mods is not hard to do, you just stay on the previous version until all your mods are updated.

Mojang are releasing a pre-release today to allow MCP and bukkit to prepare for the release next week (in jeb's own words). They will NOT be changing the protocol version, meaning 1.2.4 clients will be able to connect to 1.2.5 servers.

1.2.4 is not a pre-release. The pre-release which has just been released is for 1.2.5.
