#119522 Computer helmet with HUD

Posted by Xalithar Daskel on 21 May 2013 - 04:19 PM in Suggestions

I really do like this idea in the fact that it would effectively function as a very handy tool that, if in the hands of a skilled programmer, could make for some very informative HUDs, but what is missing is a method in which to program it with.

What I would propose in order to program this item is to craft a special type of Computer that is designed specifically to allow one to begin writing the code for this item, to make it so one is able to use it. One can only begin entering the code in the item as long as the item is put on the Computer, but once that item is removed, you cannot do anything with that Computer. This makes it possible to program more than one of these "Helmets" that will let one check what is going on. However, the "Helmet" should not have any ability to use the Rednet unless it is Advanced.

When I look at this mod, I kind of ponder what kind of potential that this CC Addon has in mind of what it can be used for. In my opinion, this would be a brilliant way for Adventure Map Creators to use this type of Addon to make some interesting event triggers. Sure, this can already be done if one didn't use this addon, but with it, I would say that the functionality would be made a whole lot more compact.

Hey RG, I hope you aren't up to any more shenanigans around Direwolf20. I wanted to stop by to express a very interesting idea (of which I am unable to make a new thread for at this time) that would put your mod to very good use, of which I'm not sure if this can actually be acheived by using either an Advanced Computer itself or a monitor that's big enough to display it, but I was kind of thinking it would be outright awesome if it were possible to make a functional 8-Bit game by using a bunch of Computer Craft's computers and some of the blocks from your mod. The code would be absolute torture, but I think it can be done once all the "Bugs" on each of the Computers/Advanced Computer(s) have been cleared. Does anybody think it would be sweet to see it done?
