I've joined but I don't have permission to use any commands or click the warp sign at spawn, so I have to swim to a place. That could be a reason 
--EDIT: I've now swam to a pretty far away island and still can't break anything
-- I then proceeded to swim to an even further away island, and can now break and build. Still no permission to use any commands though.
-- I died a very long way from spawn and have no way of getting back, so I'm done playing on the server for now. Contact me when you fix permissions
