#169618 Mimic - ComputerCraft Web Emulator (HTML5)

About the dummy text field thing - would that not make it so that only renderable characters can be typed? What about keys like the f# keys! the ctrl, alt, shift etc. keys and all those other keys?

If you mean in the pasting thing I added, how do you paste a F5 keypress? If you aren't talking about the pasting, normal key input doesn't use a dummy text field, it uses the window.onkeypress event, which gets all key presses (including F#, ctrl, alt, etc.).

On Firefox pressing =, +, -, or _ (anything on the 2 buttons between 0 and backspace) doesn't do anything.

#158113 Merry Christmas everyone!

Yes, while it's 4pm on Boxing Day for me, merry christmas.

One of the things I've noticed is most American things seem to say "Happy Holidays". Can someone enlighten me about this? Is it just politically correctness?

It's so that we can say 'happy/merry <insert holiday here>' for of the holidays that people celebrate around this time, not just Christmas (or any other single holiday).

#152570 Wireless modem messages over a long range

Posted by Imgoodisher on 10 November 2013 - 08:09 PM in Suggestions

I support this, but for different reason than what is discussed in the OP and the rest of this thread, along with possibly some additions to the idea.

I was thinking that rednet messages could be slowed down based on the size of the message being sent and the distance between the computers. Rather than an attempt at improved realism, I think it would bring an interesting new challenge to the mod. Right now you can send large strings instantly, making things like BitTorrent or CloudFlare in computercraft pointless. With slight slow-downs, we have more limitations that we can program work-arounds for.

Of course this should be a config option so that people who don't like it can disable it (or people who like it can enable it if not enabled by default).

For those of you who hate all necro posts, justification

EDIT: Just to clarify: this is still limited by rednet range

#142881 Websites And Providers

My site: http://imgood.zapto.org

Its run off of a node.js server on my computer (which goes into sleep mode after 30 minutes and is therefore down when I'm not using my computer)
I can't find any free web hosters that I really like and I figure I'm not going to get many people on it.

Its mostly a place where I put a bunch of things I make with HTML/CSS/javascript. There are a lot of pages that aren't linked in the main one (mostly because few of them are done)
Some (but not all, there's a number of pages that don't really do anything even if you mess with the javascript or are random pictures and CC programs that I never finished)
http://imgood.zapto.org/calculator
http://imgood.zapto.org/mspa/db.html
http://imgood.zapto.org/audio (Unfinished, working on it. You can get some stuff working if you're willing to look though my code) EDIT 2: Actually, have some code:
new player(0, 0, 0); new note_node(0, 0, 440); new note_node(8, 0, 440);
http://imgood.zapto....indow/window.js (A javascript window API)

Also don't forget to click the button on the bottom of the main page

EDIT: This made me realize that I should update the main page :P

That means everything (OS'es / Autoupdater's etc) has to be rewritten... JUST because of pastebin... I hope Dan and Cloudy are going to make the pastebin function use "hastebin" instead, or just something else so we dont have to rewrite everything

:(

You really only have to upload stuff somewhere else and change some URLs (or add a hastebin (or whatever you're using) download function if you're using the pastebin program and not the HTTP API)

How much would you rate yourself (1/10): 9 (though I don't know what this is supposed to be a rating of) (I'm good at a lot of stuff but no one is perfect)

Accepted

Server will be down for 1 day due to a system upgrade!

When I tried to log in it said that I'm not whitelisted.

#129833 setFenv,getFenv, loadString help

Posted by Imgoodisher on 27 June 2013 - 04:45 PM in Ask a Pro

loadstring takes a string and tries to load it as lua code. If it works with no errors, it returns a function that does the code you gave it, otherwise it returns nil and an error message
For example,
func = loadstring("print('Hello World!')")
func()
will print 'Hello World!'

loadstring("print('Hello World!'")
would return nil and "lua: 1: [string "string"]: 1: ')' expected" because it's missing the ending )

Is this yet another copy of minecraft? I just briefly looked at the picture at the home page of the website and saw a creeper in it... Funny how much people will steal from other games.

That's probably because the forums are for Atmosphir, minecraft and (an interesting sounding) new type of minecraft server, not just Atmosphir.

#120899 CCDesk PR7.1.1 - CC Networked Emulation Environment

Posted by Imgoodisher on 26 May 2013 - 09:21 AM in APIs and Utilities

I tried to start a server to work on a program with somebody, but I can not get everything to work together properly. I downloaded the deskcc-server.jar, put it in a folder, copied computercraft.jar from the ccdesk/bin folder in my appdata (because computercraft is distributed as a zip, not a jar), and used the command in the wiki in a .bat file to run it. The server starts up correctly, but when I try to connect to it the server says
[INFO] [net.deskcc.server.core.EmulatorServer] CCDesk Server starting up.
[INFO] [net.deskcc.server.core.EmulatorServer] Scanning for plugins.

NFO] [net.deskcc.server.core.TCPServerClientReadThread] Read thread halted. [INF
O] [net.deskcc.server.core.TCPServer] Removing client /127.0.0.1
I assume this is because it wants me to login, but I don't see anywhere to put a username or password. The server also doesn't generate any config files to edit like it tells me to in the getting started section

EDIT: Fixed that problem (had to use the local ip address thing instead of 127.0.0.1), but now I have another problem. I already registered on the site but when I try to log in it says invalid username and/or password though I can log in on the site with the same info. When I click the 'No account?' page it sends me to a page saying 'Not Found'
