You will get more attention in the ask a pro section.

Line 19, you have not defined the variable password.

Line 30, you may want to fix your indenting.

Line 73, while true loop.

download: pastebin run 8is6RFet
you must type startup by startup for daanos!

He doesn't have to learn English if he doesn't want to. It might be a good idea if he keeps posting on English forums, but I think it's more rude to say "I would suggest you learn English, as it isn't very good" than to constructively correct some of his English mistakes. The first, you're basically telling him off for having bad English, saying he should "just get better at it", the other you're helping him get better at it.

Also, starting with an OS can help you learn faster than starting with a password lock program or something else easy like that. I've found I learn lots when I writing an OS, even now.

@Daan:

Your program needs some work if you want it to be an OS. At the moment all you are doing is commentating your program while it clears the screen and sets the cursor position, all for a buildup to clearing the screen again.

It's basically a fancy loading screen on boot. While it might look pretty cool, it's not beneficial in any way to the users. I would suggest adding things for people to do with the program. For instance:
  • Have a menu that asks what you want to do, then the user can select what the want to do (maybe a number-based menu? - each selection has a number, and the user enters a number to choose).
  • Don't put so many sleep()'s in, as they just increase the amount of time before someone can actually use the computer. When someone comes up to a computer they want it to be ready as soon as possible, so let's make a program based around that fact.
  • Fix your indenting. Only indent something if it is in a block, like so:
local str = "This isn't indented." -- Not indented. It's IN the program, but it's not 'under' anything else
    print(str)
if str == "This isn't indented." then -- Not indented, as it's the start of a 'block'
print("Okay, but this is indented.") -- Indented because it's IN the 'if' statement
end -- Not indented. It's ending the first 'if' statement

I hope this helps set you on the right track.
