Time to analyse this thing...

So, here are some google results:
Mason: Person that builds with stone or bricks.o
A builder.

Shipwright: One that builds ships.
Another builder.

Carpenter: Worker who makes wooden objects and stuctrues.

...
I'll leave it up to you guys.

Resuming where I stopped before:

Mason: Person that builds with stone or bricks.o
A builder.

Shipwright: One that builds ships.
Another builder.

Carpenter: Worker who makes wooden objects and structures.

All seem to be about building, and as your riddle sais, it must be greater...
Greater, bigger, better, longer, stronger.

So, someone who builds/create/makes something better?
Can we have a hint in what aspect it is better in?

A relationship/love? You build upon a relationship and love is often said to last beyond death, love is building a bond stronger than any other force...

close enough. It was gravedigger.

Love and I don’t always see eye to eye. But when we become the proper mixture we are truly a love mixture. Caution to those who indulge, flames of a whirlwind do enclose. Left without a goodbye, only to ask who am I?

Grief/sadness? Love is not usually found without some sadness yet love and sadness (grief) can often be opposites. When love is gone grief/sadness is left behind?
kind of a long shot...
