Setting up ComputerCraft on Ubuntu 16.04

Note : I chose 16.04 over 16.10(or any other Linux distro for that matter) as it is an LTS release and so will most downloaded(plus you can always back-port Unity 8 into 16.04), but the procedure should be similar, if not the same.

WARNING : Do not reboot/cold reset/ your computer halfway through installing java

Is this serious? This is literally the same for every Linux distro with java and an X server

Getting Java using this method is kind of a "hack". Just use a more dev-friendly distro like Arch and install the latest Java package. (In Ubuntu) You can even add the Aptitude repositories if Java isn't part of the standard ones.

ubuntu loads... and it loads... ... ...still loads.

nothing happens, although once it asked for a username and password.. which obviously i do not know since i never came to the point of setting one up?

now its 4am and im staring basicly at a blank screen...

.
