#275458 [MC1.12][CC1.8] "More Turtles", "Waking Chunks", "Multipl...

Posted by vico on 25 February 2018 - 12:25 AM in Peripherals and Turtle Upgrades

Oh, i'm having this non-fatal errors while minecraft is loading (ignore the non-moreturtles ones, i already tell the other devs too).

Should i be worried?

Just a suggestion, you could just point the foruns posts to download the mod in CF website. But no problem.

And a last question: Is there any chance of seeing your mods uploaded on CurseForge? Its a great place to share mods for Minecraft, putting there makes far more better to manage modpacks and to stay tuned for updates!

I'm, for example, not accessing the forum so often.

I would be much thankfully if you can put your mods there.

The lowercase naming is just for dependent mods, so currently will not cause any errors.

In fact it isnt a game-breaking issue, but Forge enforce this lowercase thing for ALL mods, plus i think if i try to maniulate your mod with crafttweaker or similar software it could cause a issue.

I got some warnings on my logs:

Also do you plan to update the mod to 1.12.2 (and make the modids propely lowercase as Forge requires)?

I still need to think in a matching translation for some of the terms used in the mods, so it may take a while to translate...

Just because nothing was posted on the main blog doesnt mean there's zero work on the mod, look around.
Whilst I agree with you, there sadly is a big difference between crazed's build server and an "official" release on CurseForge. The vast majority of people and, more importantly, major modpack developers, will only look at Curse. I think a great example of this is Computality which is another fork of ComputerCraft for 1.11.2 - it has over 70k downloads, which is far more than build server has, despite it is much less stable.

Ugh, i didnt knew about this fork, and at the first glance i didnt like it, it already have another random dependency we need to install, nah, i prefer your solution (1.11/1.12 forks) :P

I didnt get any waking turtle in my creative menu nor in JEI recipe list. Is this expected? Latest WakingChunks, MC 1.12 and CC 1.80 b18

Plus, if you have interest i could try to translate your mod to brazilian portuguese, if you like i could send the lang files in resource pack format.

#268146 Computercraft is dying.

"ComputerCraft is dying because it isnt getting new updates"

Seriously, search before saing such things: https://github.com/d.../ComputerCraft/ and http://cc.crzd.me/

ComputerCraft is very well, thanks to kindness of dan and the hard work of him and SquidDev we could get CC for 1.12 (i dont see OC builds for it yet).

Just because nothing was posted on the main blog doesnt mean there's zero work on the mod, look around.

Sorry about the rant, but this type of topic is kinda useless.

Thanks a lot! I've asked you in github before seeing that, sorry.
Any chance you will update Waking chunks as well?

EDIT: Just for information, now ComputerCraft is OpenSource, so if you still doesnt know about that, take a look on its repository.

Hi there, I have a request if it's not too hard. Perhaps a chunk loader attachment that keeps a 3x3 chunk minimum loaded around the turtle so it can continue to work even when a player is not nearby. Cheers!
I'm personally not a fan of chunk loaders, and so won't be adding it to CCTweaks. This mod adds "walking turtles" for Minecraft 1.8.9, and this one for 1.7.10 - they might be worth looking into instead.
Sadly none of these are updated to 1.10+

Hi Squid, did your unofficial 1.11.2 builds still having this luaj jar bug?

Quote

The build task in Gradle does not currently copy the luaj dependency into the jar. You will have to either use the deploy script or just copy the luaj jar from libs.

I dont really understand what is the "deploy script", and so I'm still sticking with Unborked...

I hope dan will release CC code under a permissive license, i would love to see (or even try) to make a port with JavaScript replacing that creepy LUA for scripting xD

Sorry if this was already posted here. I didnt find anything on New Content menu...

Ok, as I haven't mentioned this yet on Twitter, it's time to announce something: today is my last day as a self-employed Indie Developer.

Quote

On Monday I'll be rejoining Frontier Developments as a Senior Programmer, working on unannounced secret stuff. I'm pretty excited about it.

Quote

It's been a great 3 years being Indie: I've worked on projects I'm really proud of, and learned tons of skills I never would have otherwise.

Quote

Here's how this news affects my current projects: Firstly, Redirection is getting an Android and iOS port. Release date TBA, but soon.

Quote

Second: I'll be continuing work on my next big project in my spare time. It doesn't have a name yet, but "CraftOS 2.0" is the working title.

Quote

I consider this project to be the natural successor to ComputerCraft. It'll be freeing to work on it w/out worrying abt it paying the bills.

Quote

(Shoutout to Frontier for giving their blessing to continue work on these projects! This kind of thing isn't a given in AAA gamedev)

Quote

As for ComputerCraft itself: it's no secret that I haven't had time to work on it in a while. So my plan is to open source the mod soon.

Quote

It's been 5 and a half years since I wrote the first line of CC code, and while it's been life changing, it's time to put down the pickaxe.

Quote

I'll be posting a more thorough blog post on my website soon with more details on all of this, but for now I'm happy to answer any Q's.

Quote

And finally: Thanks to everyone for sticking with me as I've transitioned from game dev to mod developer and back again. It's been a ride!

Source.

A question: you can only update the bios.lua via crafting with a disk or we can add new programs (without changing the bios)?

#265225 ComputerCraft Discord Server

A good thing to integrate both preferences (Discord and IRC) is to use a relay bot, the Railcraft server (channel in Lyqyd opinion) uses that.

Whilst train linking is a useful thing, I don't feel it fits within the scope of Plethora - it would be much better suited to a mod which just adds this feature. Knowing the modded community, there is probably something out there already.

I asked several times in modding circlejerks (mainly MMD) and the only answer i've got was: "Get Railcraft".
